About

As a CPA and former alternative investment professional, Benjamin is adept at guiding people through the often-stressful financial decisions that need to be made when buying or selling a home. During his tenure in private equity and real estate investment, heworked on over $50 billion of complex transactions across the globe, ensuring that each deal came together smoothly and in the best interest of his clients. His professional accomplishments in finance include serving as the principal member for Design Within Reach's (DWR) successful IPO as well as Mexico's second largest IPO ever - Macquarie's FIBRAMQ (Mexican REIT). Benjamin also oversaw the opening of over 50 store locations across the country for DWR. He brings this same level of professional execution and financial acumen to every real estate transaction on behalf of his clients. Benjamin has always had a passion for real estate. He bought his first home at the age of 21 and converted the 2-unit building into a single-family home, selling it for 80% more in just three years. He subsequently purchased and renovated two additional properties which he later sold for double-digit gains. Since 1999, Benjamin has completed over 20 personal real estate transactions, achieving success regardless of market or economic cycles. He loves transforming spaces that are poorly designed or underutilized using his vision to achieve their full potential. Raised in California's Santa Cruz Mountains, Benjamin lived in San Francisco during and after obtaining his BS in Accounting at Golden Gate University. He later received his MBA from the University of California Berkeley Haas School of Business and his Certificate in Real Estate and Urban Economics from the Fisher Center. Since 2005, Benjamin has lived in downtown Manhattan, and currently resides at the Vermeer cooperative in Chelsea. He is also renovating a home in Sag Harbor. Benjamin has traveled the world and is an avid SCUBA diver. He was a founding Board Member of the Freedom to Marry campaign that helped win marriage for all nationwide and is currently an active Board Member of the Hetrick Martin Institute and the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. The Hetrick Martin Institute believes all young people deserve a safe, supportive environment in which to excel and the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum's mission is to preserve, interpret and promote the culture of Sag Harbor through its collection of historical objects related to the village's whaling history, as well as the presentation of contemporary exhibits and events that reflect the culture of the village today and put Sag Harbor's past and present into context.
