Iconic Cover Girl model and longtime Hamptons resident Christie Brinkley has finally sold her historic Sag Harbor mansion at 1 Fahys Road. According to the New York Post, the property is closing for “just under” its current asking price of $17.999 million. This brings an end to nearly a decade of attempted sales.
Brinkley purchased the 4.4-acre estate overlooking Sag Harbor Bay back in 2004 for $7 million, then listed it in 2010 for $15.75 million. Despite its stately clapboard exterior, complete with two-story, white-columned porch, the home found no buyers. Brinkley opted to take it off the market and renovate.
After a comprehensive renovation to the exterior, Brinkley put the home back on the market in 2016, this time asking $25 million. Still, no buyers. She later relisted it for $20 million, finding the same result. The images below show the home after its 2016 renovation.
With price cuts and renovations failing to move the needle, Brinkley got creative. She actually owns two properties on the East End; the second is a 9-bedroom estate on Brick Kiln Road in Bridgehampton dubbed Tower Hill. According to the New York Post, Brinkley’s plan was to hedge her bets, put both properties on the market, and see which sold first. She would then occupy whichever house didn’t sell.
With the sale of the 5-bedroom, 5,500-square foot home at 1 Fahys Road, it looks like Brinkley will make Tower Hill her permanent East End residence. With original wide-plank floors, several wood-burning fireplaces, and stunning views of the bay, the Sag Harbor mansion certainly has tons of charm, not to mention a great location. But something tells us Brinkley will be just fine over at that $29.5 million compound on Brick Kiln Road.
